The Workplace Relations Act - a new era in Australian industrial relations
Article Abstract:
The Workplace relations Act of Australia was created by the Liberal/National coalition in 1996 to replace the former Industrial Relations Act. The new act clarifies several employment issues such as unfair dismissal, illness or injury and pobationary employment. The Act provides significant changes in industrial relations including the provision of more freedom of choice for employers and employees regarding pay and conditions, making trade unions liable for penalties, the creation of the Employment Advocate as the arbiter of employment agreements, the introduction of easier registration for non-union workers, and the reduction of the role of industrial awards.

Article Abstract:
The Australian government has implemented a radical program designed to change the regulation and operation of superannuation funds. These changes, which include taxation, controlling legislation, new superannuation benefits and a funded form of national superannuation paid for by employees, have resulted in a significant increase in the growth rate of superannuation funds. The policy has brought the country benefits in terms of retirement incomes policy, reduced pace of change, reduced complexity and greater public awareness.
