The relationships among work-related perceptions, employee attitudes, and employee performance: the integral role of communication
Article Abstract:
A study examined the role of communication in supporting human resource management initiatives aimed at improving employee performance. In particular, this research investigated how communication, participation in decisionmaking and teamwork contribute to organizational performance. This study also explored elements of affective attitudes, namely, organizational commitment, job satisfaction and stress. Data were gathered from a sample of employees working in an Australian information technology company. Findings revealed that employees' perceptions of teamwork, communication, job satisfaction, commitment and stress were strong predictors of self-rated performance. Communication was found to have a negative relationship with performance. The role of communication was discovered to boost teamwork, job satisfaction and commitment.
