Twenty years of employee benefits
Article Abstract:
Employee benefits have undergone enormous change since the early 1960s, producing a retirement income system under which most Americans are entitled to social security as well as other supplemental retirement income and health benefits. Private pension plan assets now account for 35.8% of the gross national product, which will prove to be a tremendous asset in the years to come. The history of employee benefits, ERISA and possible directions for the future are discussed in detail.
