Antitrust overview for the World Wide Web
Article Abstract:
Review of the economic foundations of antitrust law and enforcement suggests that income disparity, unemployment and inflation are all linked to economic policies that protect monopolists and fail to promote competition. Free market capitalism results in conduct by dominant firms that harms the ability of more efficient new competitors to enter the market. By charging higher prices and reducing output, monopolies harm consumer welfare and industry employs fewer people. Monopolists have little incentive to become more efficient, particularly if they have erected barriers to entry.

U.S. monopolies are built at the Justice Department: Bingaman/Klein will be in history's antitrust dock
Article Abstract:
Serious monopolists are a sign of the failure of public policy in any country, and such a failure could even be called an acquiescence in national corruption. In a properly governed society, Bill Gates would be kept at bay and not allowed his stranglehold on an industry that has such an effect on national prosperity. Monopoly persists in the US largely because of staffing at the Justice Department and the FTC, where Anne Bingaman and Joel Klein cave in to political pressure.

Rules of engagement for antitrust discussion groups: 'turn the other cheek' or 'lower the boom'?
Article Abstract:
Proper Internet etiquette becomes an issue when discussion group users post an insulting response to a civil message on a policy issue. Possible actions include ignoring an insult which hundreds of people may have seen or using the right combination of skill, humor and knowledge to put the person guilty of the insult back on the right track. The group's moderator could also take over the job of maintaining proper etiquette.
