Law firms plug in; both large, small practices catch up with business in embracing technology
Article Abstract:
Law firms are closing their technology gap with the business community according to the legal profession's two longest-running technology surveys. Both the ABA's 1997 Large Law Firm Technology Survey and its Small Law Firm Technology Survey show a profession that has come to grips with the relevance of automation to its work, and technology is considered a critical tool. The 1997 survey showed that 98% of large law firms give at least some employees full Internet access, and these employees use mainly for legal research or for communicating with clients.
