California has many of the most prominent US litigators, and selecting 10 of the most prominent was not an easy task. Those civil litigation stars chosen by the National Law Journal were Ronald L Olson, Frank Rothman, Joseph W Cotchett, Morgan Chu, William M Shernoff, Brian D Monaghan, William S Lerach, Elizabeth J Cabraser, Browne Greene, and Thomas V Girardi. A brief summary of their accomplishments is given.

The bayou bar; Louisiana's top litigators tend to shun specialization, unless you count mass torts

A selected list of Louisiana's leading civil litigators is given. Most do not have narrowly circumscribed specialties, doing both plaintiff and defense work and even a little criminal defense. Their civil work includes personal injury, medical malpractice, securities fraud, products liability, maritime law, toxic torts, contract disputes and intellectual property. Names include Wendell H Gauthier, Harry S Hardin III, Gene W Lafitte and Robert E Kerrigan.
