Mary Anne Gibbons, the general counsel and vice president of the U.S. Postal Service, is profiled. Gibbons has spent her entire legal career at the Postal Service. Involved with the Postal Service's e-business initiative, Gibbons is also negotiating possible Postal Service alliance with competitor Federal Express.

Building a case; copyrights apply to buildings, and suits are growing
Article Abstract:
Increased litigation under a 1990 law authorizing the copyright of architectural works is discussed. Under that law, buildings can be copyrighted because they are not considered merely functional. The number of copyrighted architectural works has increased exponentially, and trial are leading to million-dollar verdicts.
