The two hats worn by Tom Rapp are described, one as practicing attorney, and one as guitarist and singer. Rapp was once unable to get work performing and was encouraged to use his social conscience practicing law.

Sex harassment suit is on trial; against big Philly firm

Former Reed Smith Shaw and McClay lawyer Kathleen Frederick is suing the Philadelphia firm and one of its prominent attorneys, Richard Glanton, for sexual harassment. Frederick alleges that one-time mentor Glanton forced her into a sexual relationship under threat of ruining her career if she did not comply. Glanton denies that he ever touched her.

Business lawyers can volunteer, too; not all pro bono work is pure litigation; many projects call on skills of transactional lawyers
Article Abstract:
Business and transactional attorneys are often needed to provide pro bono legal services, despite the perception of pro bono work as essentially litigation work. For example, business attorneys can prepare applications for federal enterprise zone financing, lobby for organ transplant legislation geared to help the poor, work with low-cost housing projects, or work on public policy issues.
