Comparisons can be odious, Mr. Starr
Article Abstract:
Kenneth Starr does a disservice to history and to Watergate Special Prosecutor Leon Jaworski's memory by claiming professional kinship with him. Jaworski never leaked sensitive information and recognized his responsibility to transmit to Congress important evidence bearing on the House Judiciary Committee's ongoing impeachment inquiry. He was careful never to encroach on the congressional function of evaluating evidence and determining whether impeachment was warranted. Starr is the first independent counsel to come under investigation for unethical and possibly illegal conduct.

Corporate crisis managers advise the President
Article Abstract:
Attorneys with corporate crisis experience agree that Pres Bill Clinton should have anticipated at the beginning of the Lewinsky crisis that ultimately whatever happened would surface anyway and if any of the allegations circulating were true, Clinton should concede that to preempt Independent Counsel Ken Starr. Attorney Edward Stier believes that if Clinton had acknowledged improper conduct when the affair broke into the news, he may well have avoided release of the graphic, voluminous report to Congress and would not be in this political and legal quicksand.

If Starr is the future of justice, God help us
Article Abstract:
The public is told that Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr's practiced normal prosecutorial conduct in his investigation of Monica Lewinsky and of Pres Bill Clinton, but if this is the case then the time has come to outlaw such conduct. Starr labeled statements as perjurious without any evidence of falsity but just because his common sense told him the statements were false. A new standard of supra-constitutional status results when no legal violation and no high crime or misdemeanor with any precedent supporting it can be identified.
