Competition policy
Article Abstract:
Significant efforts will be made in 1999 to reform European Union competition policy. A new unit has been established in the directorate-general for competition to focus on cartels, and the European Commission has also adopted two regulations designed to simplify its competition procedures. The first updates the regulations relating to the conduct of hearings in competition proceedings, while the second deals with the rules for notifying restrictive agreements in the transport sector when seeking an exemption.
