Customizing Timeslips
Article Abstract:
Tips for customizing Timeslips' Timeslips time and billing software are presented. Timeslips features Basic and Advanced Navigators as icon-based representatives of its various functions. The user must choose a New or a New Based On selection to obtain access to the several scripts that are included with the Basic or Advanced Navigators. To add a button, the user must click on the small button icon and drag the box to the desired panel location, clicking it to set. To attach a script the user must navigate to the Script field in Basic Navigator. To execute this, the user must know the Timeslips report name, even if the name seems to be cryptic. To define codes for inclusion in a report the user must click on the Select button from the Slip Analysis Reports screen and open the Selection screen. Users can define sort orders for daily Time Reports by opening the Sort screen via clicking on the Sort button.

California transactions forms on CD-ROM
Article Abstract:
Bancroft Whitney's $600 LawDesk: California Transactions Forms legal practice management application provides users with an electronic edition of the company's popular Cal Forms Legal and Business title in a searchable Folio Infobase format. The CD-ROM features extensively annotated forms that are grouped into 11 modules. LawDesk includes tax information, cases, checklists, statutes, rules and regulations. The modules are separated into chapters that begin with Prefatory Material which details each chapter's range. Cross-references to additional chapters with related information follow the Prefatory Material. LawDesk also provides Collateral Practice References and Practice Aids that refer users to pertinent data and that reference collateral discussions in legal periodicals, respectively. LawDesk, however, lacks a document generator program.
