Environmentalists: the new nattering nabobs of negativism
Article Abstract:
Environmental policymaking has become politicized and the result has not been better government stewardship of the environment. This politicization has resulted in blowing certain environmental problems, such as global warming, out of proportion for ideological purposes. Other issues which have been exaggerated include the ozone problem, desertification and population growth. Environmental policymakers need to proceed in a nonpartisan fashion, be clear about tradeoffs involved, advance conservation in the most cost-effective way and prefer solutions brought about by market forces rather than government.

Corporate welfare remains unchecked
Article Abstract:
Federal corporate welfare programs are still fully functioning thanks to the continued largesse of Congress and the Executive Branch. The government currently supports at least 125 such programs at a cost of $75 billion/yr. It is morally wrong to take money from taxpayers and use it to support enterprises that are fully capable of paying their own way. Corporate welfare programs are also draining the budget and are likely to hike the deficit unless they are slashed. Congress and the President should at least target the most blatant business welfare programs for elimination.
