Fed securities actions go online; courts experiment with the Web
Article Abstract:
The Securities Fraud Class Action Clearinghouse debuted in Silicon Valley on Dec 6, 1996, making it possible to satisfy the Internet posting mandate in Rule 23. The site, the result of a collaboration between the Securities and Exchange Commission, the federal judges of California's Northern District court, and Stanford Law School, is intended to be a comprehensive electronic library regarding securities, with analyses. Criticisms of the site are discussed, and Internet postings of court rules addressed.
