Article Abstract:
Digital photographic imagery presents both admissibility and authentication issues. The authentication principles date back to the advent of conventional photography and are thus well-settled, but the new technology requires some shifts in emphasis. As computer-enhanced images are demonstrative evidence of a scientific process, the software is main difference between computer-generated images and other computer-generated evidence. Thus, authentication requires evidence of the validity and trustworthiness of the program's scientific or technical theories.
