If Dahmer's not crazy, who is?
Article Abstract:
The jury in Jeffrey Dahmer's recent insanity hearing returned a proper verdict in light of Wisconsin law on insanity. The statute does not consider repeated criminal behavior a mental defect or disease if the only manifestation of abnormality is such conduct. Despite popular notions of insanity and testimony of expert defense witnesses, the jury found that, under the Wisconsin law, it could not reach a verdict of non-responsibility.

Colleagues aided Dahmer prosecutor
Article Abstract:
Milwaukee County, WI, District Attorney E. Michael McCann obtained assistance from fellow government attorneys in discrediting expert defense witnesses in Jeffrey Dahmer's insanity trial. Their aid helped him attack Dahmer's paraphilia defense and the credibility of expert witness Dr. Fred Berlin. McCann's colleagues provided him with information on Berlin's appearances in other cases and suggested questioning strategies.

Dahmer Dilemma
Article Abstract:
The insanity trial of Jeffrey Dahmer illustrates the classic dilemma of treatment of insanity versus punishment of the criminally insane. The choice between either treatment or punishment satisfies no one and contributes to public discontent with the criminal justice system. The need for clearer guidelines should be addressed by criminal justice officials.
