Innovation and the structure of competition
Article Abstract:
The article discusses European and American competition authorities' attempts to regulate competition in industrial research within the framework of the appropriate competition law system. The author fits innovation markets and future goods markets within the structure of European and American competition law, showing that the structure of this law allows authorities to protect competition in future goods markets.

Article Abstract:
It is argued that the structure of European and American law only permits the authorities to find and protect competition in future markets. The three types of transactions raising future market issues are when firms license or sell intellectual property rights, when they enter into joint ventures, or merge with or acquire other businesses.Relevant antitrust laws are summarized.
