The need for new insurance products to cover losses from computer crimes computer viruses and hacking, and third-party liability coverage is discussed. Some insurance companies are offering additional coverage to supplement traditional policies.

A new kind of insurance covers the cost of intellectual property litigation, and attorneys who fail to advise clients of this insurance could be committing malpractice. This risk management product, intellectual property or pursuit insurance, provides coverage for a company suing because its intellectual property has been infringed. Such insurance is a further discouragement to possible infringers and allows the insured to manage its assets in a cost-efficient way.

Employers under siege get coverage; Littler Mendelson steers its clients to policy issuer
Article Abstract:
The decade pf the 1990s has seen an increase in the incidence and severity of employer liability litigation, including charges of discrimination, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, and negligent hiring. A new insurance product, employment practices liability insurance, is of interest to some employers. but is still costly and has limits to coverage. More than 60 insurance firms now offer some form of this insurance, sometimes as a stand-alone product and sometimes as an endorsement to directors' and officers' liability insurance.
