Male chauvinist piggery still reigns
Article Abstract:
Gender bias persists in the courtroom, due partly to judges who refuse to end it and partly to the growing presence of women attorneys when civility between lawyers is declining. Sexist insults and comments draw little condemnation where substituting racial terms or insults would bring harsh, immediate punishment. Studies in the New York and 9th Circuit courts point out the problem and its persistence, and the OJ Simpson criminal trial was replete with instances when Marcia Clark could be harassed but not retaliate.

Being Mr. or Ms. Superlawyer can strain family relations; habits that make a good lawyer can ruin a spouse
Article Abstract:
Leaving character traits which make good attorneys behind at the office can keep lawyers' marriages from being the ones at risk. Lawyers' spouses complain about a lack of time together, and this goes especially for young attorneys who need time to find a spouse and bond with new families but cannot do so without hurting their careers. Additional spouses' complaints include bringing the perfectionism, cynicism about human nature, and inability to fight fairly home from the office.

Lawyer acts as Samurai warrior; she recognized the tragedy but proved that Suzuki's product had not caused it
Article Abstract:
Suzelle M. Smith suggests studying the history of opposing counsel in order to better prepare for trial. Simplicity often equals understandability of your defense by the jury. Dealing with innuendo up front also tends to add to your credibility with the jury. Ms. Smith was named as one of the nation's top ten litigators by the National Law Journal.
