The author outlines efforts of the Middle Rio Grande Water Assembly to create a sustainable water management policy for the Rio Grande Valley in New Mexico. Pueblo Indian water rights, federal laws and policies, and the process of developing a regional water plan are discussed.

Transportation of transuranic nuclear waste to WIPP: a reconsideration of truck versus rail for two sites

The authors analyze the respective costs and benefits of shipping transuranic nuclear waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, New Mexico, by truck and by rail. Recommendations for saving public funds and reducing risks are provided.
