Oklahoma libel case puts tort reform movement on trial: trial lawyers sue group over articles in newsletter
Article Abstract:
A group of Oklahoma trial lawyers represented by W.C. Sellers, acting on behalf of all of the state's trial lawyers, is suing Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA) for libel. The lawyers claim that the group's newsletter and articles based on the newsletter debased their profession and used false claims to do so. CALA is using the newsletter to raise money in hopes of forcing a referendum that would place limits on punitive damages and attorney fees.
