Other suit may benefit from Chiquita tapes; company fears use by ex-exporter in a federal malicious prosecution case
Article Abstract:
Lawyers for Chiquita Brands International allege that Cincinnati Enquirer reporter Mike Gallagher stole company voice mail and fear that it may get into the hands of Ernst Stalinski, a German export agent who has sued Chiquita in Ohio federal court. Stalinski's suit centers on a 1990 incident when he claims Chiquita employees enlisted Honduran thugs to kidnap and terrorize him. More generally, since the voice mail tapes point to questionable company practices, Chiquita has every reason to try to keep them confidential.
