Paul Weiss pact remains puzzling; what's unclear is exactly what it did to displease the RTC
Article Abstract:
Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison has reached a settlement with the Resolution Trust Corp over its representation of the CenTrust Savings Bank of Miami, one of the institutions which went under during the savings and loan debacle of the late 1980s. The firm must comply with any standards imposed by the Office of Thrift Supervision for three years and make sufficient disclosure in all future dealings with bank regulatory agencies. The firm's former partner, Peter J. Haje, may not represent any federally insured banks for five years.

OTS' scud attack
Article Abstract:
The Office of Thrift Supervision's (OTS) freezing of Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays & Handler's assets violated due process. Even if the law firm did mislead regulators in its representation of Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, as it is accused of doing, the OTC's action would still be unjustified. While the savings and loan crisis is of grave concern, constitutional law should be upheld by government agencies.
