The danger of occasional computer viruses in law firms using e-mail regularly is discussed. Installing up-to-date virus protection software, with regular updates, is key. Steps to take after viruses attack are listed, and general information about viruses given.

Researching a prospective employer with a lawyer's attention to detail should help avoid later disappointment and much of the necessary information is available even with little time and money spent on the task. Computer research is an excellent source, and a firm's Web site even provides all printed marketing materials and newspaper articles about the firm. Law school placement offices are another source, as well as lawyers it's possible to telephone who work at a firm.
