Senior lawyers ease age requirement; Division welcomes 55-year-olds, urges early planning for retirement
Article Abstract:
The eligibility age for membership in the ABA Senior Lawyers Division (SLD) has been lowered from 60 to 55. The SLD pushes retirement planning as early as possible, saying that by age 55 lawyers should be integrating their pension plans and social security as well as doing other planning. The SLD has 11,500 members and the new eligibility requirements could add another 16,218. Arranging of counsel relationships is another top priority for the SLD.
