Share your digital paper
Article Abstract:
Visioneer's PaperShare 4.0 workgroup software simplifies distribution of the company's PaperPort document images. PaperShare 4.0 is priced at $99.95, $199.95 and $299.95 for two-, five- and ten-user configurations, respectively. PaperShare relies on network folders to store images while enhancing access controls. These access controls enable users to authorize who can add, remove and check out shared folder documents. The program also displays a distinguishing icon along with user identification next to images that are checked out. PaperShare prevents multiple users from modifying identical documents simultaneously. While multiple users are able to view these documents and change their own private document copies, they are prohibited from changing them on the network. PaperShare, however, lacks search capabilities and images cannot be dragged directly between two shared network folders.
