TValue: interest calculations for Windows
Article Abstract:
TimeValue's $149 TValue 4 loan amortization and interest calculation software is a powerful but easy-to-use program. Each transaction uses a TValue document, into which users enter specific parameters including the interest rate and the compounding period, which may occur weekly, monthly or annually. Users then create cash flow lines, which form the framework for the transaction. TValue's helpful interest rate button lets users determine the periodic rate, daily rate and effective annual rate of a loan with the click of a button, after they have entered the nominal annual interest rate. TValue can perform sophisticated calculations such as allocating payments between principal and interest and evaluating interest rate changes, balloon payments or loan points. TValue can also calculate the effect of skipped or extra payments, and the data can be exported to other programs.

Legalize WordPerfect for Windows
Article Abstract:
Nexal's $119 NexLaw 1.1 WordPerfect word processing add-on software package attempts to improve upon the tools found in WordPerfect, but falls short. This add-on replaces the WordPerfect shell menu system with its own customizable shell. The shell is rather intuitive. It has some case management features including document linking for speedy retrieval. NexLaw's Work Areas special subdirectory facilitates the coordination of files relating to particular cases, clients, attorneys or personnel. The Forms Bank function organizes forms by practice areas. The program's personal information management feature is a simple address card management system for linking documents, clients, names, addresses and matters. The program's features are very useful but carry a steep learning curve. The response time for some functions is very slow since NexLaw runs on top of WordPerfect.
