Tech-free Senate trial
Article Abstract:
Pres Bill Clinton's Senate impeachment trial features little in the way of litigation technology, and the trial might be more interesting if some of the technology demonstrated at the 1999 Legal Tech Show were used. Executive Technologies Inc showed that technology make a presentation of conflicting testimony interesting. Scanning witnesses' testimony into CD-ROMs allows easier searching of transcripts and an attorney's highlighting, juxtaposing and magnifying conflicting testimony to greater effect.

E-mail policy on trial
Article Abstract:
High-profile cases such as the Microsoft antitrust trial make clear the value of putting a company e-mail policy in writing, and these policies will also include directions about when to preserve and destroy e-mail. Technological advances include e-mail filtering, making it easier to develop sophisticated ways to handle e-mail. Many e-mail harassment cases may not have occurred if such filters had been used because the e-mail would not have been sent.

Attorneys welcome the Euro
Article Abstract:
Foreign clients may start paying their legal bills in euros, if they wish, and traveling lawyers may start submitting credit card invoices in the new currency, even though new coins and bills will not appear until 2002. There is ample time to adjust, though, as until Jan 1, 2002, companies can bill and receive payment either in the old currencies or in euros. Exchange rates for the euro are posted daily on www.worldpay.com/usa/euro.html/
