The new 'Word' on Deal Proof
Article Abstract:
Expert Ease Software's $495 Deal Proof 1.1 is an effective document management application that is optimized for contracts and agreements, certificates of incorporation and bylaws, stock and option plans, 401(k) plans, indentures, certificates, notes and receipts. It analyzes Word and WordPerfect documents and identifies words that are misused, require definition, mismatched punctuation, open issues and non-conforming phrases. Hypertext flag markers identify the errors. The application does not use long file names. Deal Proof works with correspondence, but is not designed for prospectuses, business plans, disclosure statements, litigation documents, offering circulars, governmental filings or SEC filings.

A notebook with a silver lining
Article Abstract:
IBM's ThinkPad A20p notebook computer, priced at $3,599, is true desktop replacement. The A20p, which comes with a three-year warranty and repair policy, incorporates the best keyboard and general ergonomics currently available, and the 15-inch monitor is outstanding. The system is not compatible with 1,024-by-768 pixel multimedia projectors, and although the product's online documentation is good, there is almost no written documentation.

Partition on, Dude
Article Abstract:
PowerQuest's $69.95 ($29.95 upgrade) PartitionMagic disk formatting software is a highly recommended utility program for working with hard disks. The product is said to be worth its price for its technical support alone. A minor drawback has to do with PartitionMagic's BootMagic component, which cannot be password protected. Overall, PartitionMagic is essential for working with hard disks, and single and multiple operating systems.
