The public entrepreneurship revolution
Article Abstract:
The fiscal health of local governments has become difficult due to decreases in property tax revenues resulting from the recession of the early 1990s, decreases in intergovernmental grants-in-aid and hesitation to borrow any more due to large rises in local debt. Privatization has been one way governments have tried to provide services funded in former times out of public coffers, and between 5% and 7% of a typical local government's income comes from some kind of public entrepreneurship. Public entrepreneurship is the natural complement of corporate social responsibility and takes many forms, some of which are listed.

What does it mean to be green?
Article Abstract:
There is much disagreement over the purposes, concerns, definitions and beliefs that are attached to the term 'environmentalism.' Some people who call themselves environmentalists see their mission as preserving species in a natural state while others are more concerned with conserving examples of wildlife species as their natural habitats are used to provide resources for people. Debate over the priorities of environmentalists, including what should be protected, who should be responsible and the level of sacrifice expected of humans is discussed.

The Cyrano syndrome and America's political revival
Article Abstract:
Cyrano de Bergerac exemplifies a type of person common in America who makes much of modern culture bearable and much business possible. These people, in their purest form, have antagonistic relationships with institutions and cheerfully accept being disliked in return for being noticed. They are often unpopular, in part because they make others uncomfortable about their own assumptions, and have little interest in material gain. Creativity and often brilliant entrepreneurial talent for new ideas make them valuable to all.
