The race for O.J.'s assets is on - and it is tortuous; some Simpson assets may be hidden. California law shelters others from seizure
Article Abstract:
O.J. Simpson lost a wrongful death suit against him in California courts by Fred Goldman, father of murder victim Ron Goldman, and the Brown family. Which Simpson assets are available to satisfy the $33.5 million judgment is not clear. Simpson's most recent attempt to avoid the judgment was a trust established Mar 10, 1997, shortly after the judgment, to make partial payment of the debt to his children as beneficiaries of Nicole Simpson's estate. Daniel Petrocelli, the Goldman's attorney, claims an attempt by Simpson to prefer his ex-wife's estate to the Goldman's in the struggle for his assets since his children are beneficiaries of the estate.

McDougal's lawyer says she's a victim of collusion
Article Abstract:
Lawyers for Whitewater defendant Susan McDougal feel Los Angeles County authorities have conspired with Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr to harass their client. They cite avoiding moving McDougal to California under the Interstate Agreement on Detainers, which would have made it possible for her to ask Clinton to block the move, as evidence. Instead, she was brought from Texas to California on the lesser-known writ of habeas corpus ad prosequendum. McDougal is in protective custody in the Sybil Brand Institute, a much more onerous environment than the medical unit of the Fort Worth prison where she was before.

Was Hubbell's no-show job a political favor; Los Angeles probe says Hubbell spent less time lobbying than he claimed
Article Abstract:
Webster L. Hubbell's activities as a Los Angeles lobbyist were the subject of seven-month investigation to determine if he overbilled the city for his consulting services. Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr planned to investigate whether Hubbell got the job through White House political connections. The ex-Justice Dept official was hired as a lobbyist in Aug 1994, following his departure from the Clinton administration, to work on a project involving LA airports.
