Winning deposition tactics: Angus explains how to make discovery more productive
Article Abstract:
An attorney named Angus answers questions from anonymous attorneys about different aspects of depositions. Some of the problems raised are when witnesses conveniently forget important information or when an important issue was not revealed until after the deposition was taken. For the forgetful witness, Angus suggests a list of questions targeting others who might know and on the missing issue he agrees that there is no way to readdress the issue in a deposition once it has been recorded. Angus also gives an attorney tips for asking open-ended questions in the deposition.

The case is falling apart... and continuity is the glue that keeps things together
Article Abstract:
Trial lawyers do have a few techniques to use against incomprehensible evidence and endless trials and can thus avoid a jury becoming too fatigued or confused. Lawyers can used the paragraph method for direct examination, which helps save trial time that would otherwise go to waste. Having visual ingredients in each witness's testimony also helps focus jury attention. When lawyers are interrupted by objections, they should also have techniques for turning each objection into an opportunity.

Reading out loud; how to say it like you mean it
Article Abstract:
Lawyers should do vocal exercises and practice reading out loud in order to improve their public speaking skills at trial. Enunciating clearly when saying tongue twisters, speaking words with meaning, and pausing and emphasizing different words are good vocal exercises to do before practicing reading aloud. It is unwise to read something at trial without having practiced it first.
