Artists Court closes
Article Abstract:
London Post's Artists Court Avid-editing unit will discontinue its operations, a move that will result in the termination of seven jobs, including that held by Mike Curd, the company's joint managing director, who has tendered his resignation on Aug. 3, 1998. The shutdown is part of the reorganization being implemented by the Aspen Group, the organization's parent firm, that is aimed at consolidating the company's media, creative and technical facilities. London Post, which will receive new personnel from Aspen Interactive, the firm's new media division, is expected to be reconfigured as the main unit of Aspen's media services group.

Pace takes supplier to court but talks go on
Article Abstract:
Pace Micro Technology, a maker of set-top boxes (STBs) for digital television service providers, said that it continues to pursue a settlement of a dispute with Macrovision of the US despite the filing of a lawsuit against the firm. Pace, which refused to elaborate on its long-term disagreement with Macrovision, provides its software to third-party chip makers who use it to make the chips that are used in its STBs. The company said that the two sides have reached provisions that will ensure that there is no interruption to Pace's operation despite the court case.
