DCMS should not be scrapped
Article Abstract:
The media select committee has proposed the abolition of the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS). The committee believes a single government communications agency to overlook telecommunications and broadcasting legislation and the department Ofcom will relieve the tension between the departments. Analysts believe that disbanding the DCMS will leave the UK without cultural balance in broadcasting and the arts.
