BSkyB hails rise in original output
Article Abstract:
BSkyB CEO Mark Booth has reported over one-fourth of Sky 1's production budget is being spent to commission original output from producers in the UK. The statistics, according to Booth, represents a significant boost in emphasis given by BSkyB to original programming compared two years ago, when original output only represented 6% of Sky 1's total budget. Booth said BSkyB will also seek to recruit additional UK on-screen talents following the success of Jimmy Hill and Barry Norman. He also noted that already 650,000 customers had expressed interest to subscribe for the company's TV satellite TV service, which is scheduled to be launched on Oct. 1, 1998.
