Bernard in call for RA to regulate BBC
Article Abstract:
GWR group CEO Ralph Bernard requested the Radio Authority (RA) to regulate BBC for allegedly wandering away from its public service standards. Bernard presented a proposal to radically restructure the UK radio industry including the BBC criticism during his presentation of GWR's outline for the future of the industry at the Radio Festival in Birmingham, UK. Bernard further accused BBC of destroying the franchise structure of other groups in effect of its move to secure more audience share. Bernard proposed the establishment of sterner definition between public interest adn public service radio, among others.

Sky 1 hailed as cable 'favorite.'
Article Abstract:
BSkyB's Sky 1 has been named overall favorite TV channel, beating rival nominees, which included Living, Discover Channel, UK Gold and Sky Sports 1, by the listings magazine The Cable Guide. The recognition, which was based on votes cast by the magazine's 1.23 million readers, was given by Cable Guide during a ceremony held at Dochester hotel in London, UK. Sky 1's Dream Team, produced by Hewland International, won the award for favorite new program. The prize for most innovative and exciting channel went to Live TV, besting other nominees such as Sci-Fi Channel, the Paramount Domedy Channel and Bravo.
