Between a world summit and a Chinese movie: visions of the 'Information Society'
Article Abstract:
The vision of the 'information society' at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is compared with fragments of imagined and lived experiences of such a society in China that has emerged as an increasingly important player at the global stage. The liberal and egalitarian visions articulated in both the state and civil society declarations are praised.

Framing the NATO air strikes on Kosovo across countries
Article Abstract:
The way in which the Chinese media and the US media covered the NATO air strikes in 1999 using the frame analysis technique is compared. Two different media frames were adapted by the Chinese newspapers and US newspapers in recounting the large military action.

Chinese newspapers and market theories of web journalism
Article Abstract:
Market-based theories of online journalism on the web editions of printed-page Chinese newspaper are tested. A relationship between print circulation and the technical complexity that a newspaper builds or not into its online news content is suggested.
