Watchdog savaged
Article Abstract:
Recent negative publicity surrounding the Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BBC) has served to highlight concerns about the organisation's future. The new Broadcasting Bill plans to merge it with the Broadcasting Standards Council to form a new Broadcasting Standards Commission, which would have absolute authority in rulings relating to fairness. This has been welcomed by some observers, who see the BCC has hampering good journalism.
