Trainee-spotting
Article Abstract:
Several UK independent television production companies have co-operated on setting up the Independent Companies Researcher Training Scheme (ICRTS). The scheme will initially train six broadcasting industry researchers on an eighteen-month course which will involve placements with the independent companies. Industry training body Skillset has provided the bulk of the 250,000 pounds sterling funding. The ICRTS group praises the BBC training scheme, but says that one aspect the new scheme will not copy is the elitist approach to recruitment.
