Article Abstract:
Chrysalis Visual Entertainment (CVE), an independent production company, has a turnover of some 60 million pounds sterling. Chrysalis has expanded its operation to encompass a partnership with MTM Worldwide Distribution and the formation of an subsidiary called Chrysalis Television International. Chief Executive, Mick Pilsworth, emphasizes the importance of the retention of programme rights for independent producers. He suggests that UK production companies will need to expand into overseas markets because the UK market is increasingly being controlled by the major broadcasting companies.

The pull-out guide to finding and hiring studios
Article Abstract:
Virtual studios, for television production, are becoming less expensive to use and therefore are likely to grow in popularity in the future. Many UK studios are converting to digital. Hiring a large studio can cost between 10-35,000 pounds sterling per day, plus the cost of the production crew. A skillful camera operator can charge up to 350 pounds sterling per day. To hire a studio of 800 sq ft, for one day, may only cost 800 pounds sterling. The work of a studio manager can be very demanding particularly when faced with difficult production problems and a shortage of time.
