C5 threatens to enforce Gardam notice period
Article Abstract:
Channel 5 is believed to be in a dispute with Channel 4 involving the latter's appointment of Tim Gardam, currently the controller of news, current affairs and documentaries at Channel 5, to become Channel 4's head of programs. Sources noted Channel 5 executive David Elstein is threatening not to release Gardam and require him to serve his full six-month notice period if Channel 4 will not agree to negotiate financial terms. The rumors stemmed from Channel 5's decision in November 1998 to release its marketing director David Brook in November 1998 so that he could join C4 as director of strategy after the latter agreed to pay 50,000 pounds sterling.

ITV throws out Vanessa
Article Abstract:
ITV has refused to renew the contract of Vanessa Feltz as the host of its morning talk show after she asked for very unrealistic demands, which includes 2.5 million pounds sterling and 40 network programs in peaktime. ITV and Anglia Television and United Productions, the producer of the program, are contemplating to look for another presenter. ITV and United are both excited in considering several options for the show, which format will not be changed despite their expressed disappointment of the loss of Feltz.
