Channel 5 misses DTT deadline
Article Abstract:
Channel 5 is hoping for an end-December 1998 launch of its digital terrestrial services after plans for a simultaneous launching with other terrestrial broadcasters on Nov. 15, 1998 got hindered. The decision to postpone the service has been blamed on disagreements with S4C Digital, holder of its digital multiplex license, over terms of the deal, leading to a request for Independent Television Commission to settle the dispute. Aside from giving the distinction as being the only terrestrial station not to launch digital services on the scheduled date, the delay is not expected by chief executive David Elstein to create a big difference.
