Row threatens ITV rivals' Lawrence projects
Article Abstract:
Granada TV may not see the airing of its two-hour drama-documentary on the murder of Stephen Lawrence as the parents of the victim are considering backing out of the project due to moves by ITV Network Centre to air the sides of the five young suspects. The interview on the suspects by Granada rival, Carlton, is reportedly planned for broadcast in January 1999 and will be spearheaded by Martin Bashir whose contract as reporter of BBC Panorama will end in November 1998. The still-to-be-signed agreement of ITV and Bashir will also involve work in the upcoming current affairs show of Granada TV called Sixty Minutes.
