DTT film channel is Grade's legacy
Article Abstract:
The Independent Television Commission is expected to receive shortly a proposal from Channel 4 for an arthouse film channel. This may be launched in 1998 as a digital terrestrial television service. It would be broadcast on the Channel 4/ITV guaranteed multiplex, and would initially be a four-hour block of programming broadcast at peak viewing time. Channel 4 has had a policy of not giving UK pay-television rights to its films, and this will now allow it to show them on its own digital terrestrial television channel.

United eyes up TVNZ wildlife
Article Abstract:
Plans to purchase around 50% of the natural history unit of New Zealand broadcaster TVNZ are being drawn up by Discovery Communications and United News and Media. However, it is possible that Chris Anderson, the chief executive of TVNZ, may now be having reservations about allowing a deal to go ahead. It is believed that the government of New Zealand is putting pressure on TVNZ not to sell its public assets. If the deal goes ahead, Discovery would gain access to United's wildlife unit, Survival.
