Discovery brings Eco challenge in-house
Article Abstract:
Discovery Channel US has started editing the third annual Eco Challenge event, which is its first in-house production valued at $10 million. The Eco Challenge, an adventure race held in Morocco in October 1998, was filmed by in-house executive producer Angus Yates with the help of outsider staff producer Paul sparrow and freelance director Peter Henning. Discovery Channel previously hired American independent production outfits to cover the event but Eco Challenge has evolved into a bigger international event that an independent firm could no longer handle coverage effectively.
