Drama cops it
Article Abstract:
UK television producers are having to cope with a decline in interest regarding television drama programmes focusing on police action according to ratings for television programmes in Autumn 1998. An increase in subscribers to satellite and cable channels has meant an overall fall in viewing figures for the five main television stations, whilst police television shows appear to have reached saturation point. Viewer preferences appear to have swung towards lifestyle programmes, while drama shows attract fewer viewers.
