Drama on the Med for The People's Princess
Article Abstract:
A one and a half hour long film about Diana, Princess of Wales is due to be shown on UK television at Easter 1998. The film, called 'The People's Princess' cost 2 million pounds sterling to make and took 19 days to film. Majorca was chosen as the location for the film. The film has been backed by the Mirror TV. The film has already been purchased by 20 foreign networks. The production team initially had some difficulty in finding an actress to play Diana. Actress Amy Seccombe was eventually chosen. Diana, Princess of Wales died in a car accident, in 1997.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is making a series of 20 programmes entitled United Kingdom! The project was started towards the end of 1996 and it was decided to employ 35 film makers who would find and film their own story using DV cameras. Rushes of the films are transferred at the BBC to restriped VHS; technical problems hindered the process. United Kingdom! is due to be televised in the Spring of 1997.
