Parents' responses have been mixed, particularly over the baby language used. Teletubbies is financed by Ragdoll Productions and the BBC, with interest in buying the programme coming from across the world.

Television broadcasters will attempt to mimic successful programs in an increasingly competitive industry. Legal aspects of English law are discussed with reference to confidentiality, passing off, registered trade marks, copyright in parts and format copyright. A paper by the Department of Trade and Industry on the subject would progress legal amendments.
