Flextech chief exec Luard dies aged 49
Article Abstract:
Flextech, a pay television company, has lost its chief executive officer Roger Luard who died in a hospital at age 49 after suffering from a rare neurological virus attack. Luard was recruited by Michael Belmont of merchant bank Cazenove in 1986 to help reorganize Flextech, which was then a struggling oil services company. Luard also led Flextech's move into media in 1989 with the purchase of a 24% stake in HIT Entertainment, a program distribution company, and later with investments in cable franchises and TV stations.

The new division, which will include the company's rights division led by Jane Smith, will be headed by Arch Dyson, Flextech TV's vice president of production.
