Focus to produce teen drama for C5
Article Abstract:
Focus International Television of London, UK, has won a Channel 5 commission for the production of "Risk," a 52 x 30-minute series about six London teenagers' first-time experiences regarding work, drugs, drink, friendship, sex and love. C5 is planning to promote the show through a tie-up with a major record label in April 1999. "Risk" is the first project of Focus' London office since it was put up in 1996 to handle development and co-production agreements. Focus, which has offices in Portugal and Spain, is currently involved in other projects such as the 26 x 30-minute family drama "African Heart," a co-production with Sunbow Entertainment and Granada Media Group.

ITV commissions Seymour thriller

ITV has contracted Carlton Television to produce a version of thriller Waiting for Time by Gerald Seymour in 2 x 90-minute programs. The adaptation is scheduled to start production in March 1999 to meet its initial air broadcast in the summer of 1999. ITV, which also plans to air the adaptation in autumn 1999, has commissioned John Thaw to become the lead of the TV show. The adaptation tells a thriller story set after the Cold War in Aldershot, UK, the Baltic coast and Berlin, Germany, about a woman in search of the killer of her agent and lover with the help of the character played by Thaw, a former intelligence officer named Josh Mantle.
