Feminism, sex scandals, and historic lessons
Article Abstract:
Victoria Woodhull was considered one of the early feminists that significantly contributed to the movement for women's suffrage in the early 1900's. Her biography is considered to be insightful reading for those wishing to study feminism in its early stages. She was also known as being the first woman to run for US president in 1872. A former sex worker and an advocate of sexual freedom for women, her life and times are studied by contemporary feminists wishing to push for female public servants and leaders.

Scandal, heteronormative culture, and the disciplining of feminism
Article Abstract:
Sex scandals involving harassment and molestation of younger women have become feeding grounds for erstwhile feminists who advocate moral purity and social conformity. Grassroots feminism needs to be redefined and given alternative venues for free speech. The Clinton sex scandal has become the subject of public discourse and its intimate aspects have raised feminist issues. History has witnessed society often blaming feminists for restructuring women's roles in a patriarchal set-up.
